Elijah Mantley: Canada’s Next Electrifying Guard

Elijah Mantley (2028) is a 6’3 explosive combo guard whose game is built around downhill pressure. He is constantly looking to get two feet in the paint, using his quick first step, and craft to create advantages.

Mantley is becoming a simpler and more efficient scorer, allowing his athletic tools to naturally create easy opportunities. His ability to get downhill opens up finishes at the rim and pull up opportunities in the midrange. Primarily a scoring guard who can operate both on and off the ball. Still developing a consistent three ball, but has shown tons of improvement in this area, especially as a catch and shoot threat. His game is actively heading towards consistently making simple reads and taking what the defense gives him.

As a combo guard, Mantley shows great feel as a playmaker, particularly when attacking dowhill. He makes strong reads within offensive actions and when the defense collapses, allowing his scoring pressure to create opportunities for others. The biggest areas to monitor will be his ball handling and his ability to take on more primary creation responsibilities. With improvement in both of these areas, it will help his transition to the next level.

Defensively, his lateral quickness, and overall athleticism give him the tools to pressure opposing guards, and provide a two way value. His physical tools also make him an exceptional offensive rebounder for a guard, allowing him to attack the glass and create second chance opportunities.

Mantley is already showing that his game translates against some of the highest levels of competition in Canada, consistently competing and producing. Mantley has a well rounded foundation, highlighted by a strong basketball iq and versatile skill set. With two more years of prep basketball still ahead of him, he is undoubtedly a player to keep an eye on.
