Lucas Thomas doesn't have the tallest frame in the 2028 class -- 5'10 out of St. Francis Xavier in Edmonton -- but a Team Alberta 17u selection at his size says something about how he actually plays the position. Running with WEBA on the club circuit, Thomas is a guard who has to win with pace, feel and a low center of gravity rather than length, and the provincial call-up suggests the coaches in the gym came away convinced he does exactly that. Undersized guards who make national-pathway rosters usually get there because the winning translates regardless of what the tape measure says -- table-setting, tempo control, competing on both ends without size to hide behind. The measurables put a ceiling on the physical projection; everything else about his résumé says bet on the guard skill anyway.
