Sam Mathurin doesn't play like a kid with four years left on the clock -- he plays like someone who already knows where this is going. The 6'5" guard out of Toronto's Oakwood C.I. runs with UPlay Canada's Jr. EYBL program, and his trip through Peach Jam this summer said more with pace than with flash: he sees the second read before the ball even gets to him, which is a rare thing to say about a class of 2029 wing. Size at the guard spot is the easy sell, but the real hook is that he's not locked into one job -- shooting guard, small forward, doesn't matter, he slides between both without the offense missing a beat. He's still years from a tier assignment and there's plenty of runway between now and an actual offer, but a controlled, feel-first guard with legitimate size rarely stays a name only the scout network knows. High-major programs patient enough to start early are going to like what they see on tape.
