Game: McMaster Marauders (ON) vs Dalhousie Tigers (NS) | Friday, October 16, 2026

Location: 200 University Avenue West, Waterloo, Canada, N2L 3G1

Team: McMaster Marauders

Position: Combo Guard

Game stats: 17 PTS, 5 REB, 1 AST, 1 3PM, 2 STL

Elijah Bethane is a gritty, high-motor guard whose game is built on defensive intensity and fearless rim pressure. He is a pesky, lockdown defender who stays attached to his man, refusing to allow any easy shots. Bethane is highly active on the defensive end, using active hands to cause turnovers, including multiple steals on the fastbreak, as well as constantly tipping the ball to disrupt the offense.

Offensively, Bethane loves to play around the rim. He is a great finisher who utilizes his floater and controlled finishing to score over size. He loves to play with contact and has great finishing when bumped or off balance. He plays with great pace and poise, operating as a secondary ball handler when needed. While his 3-point shot needs to stay consistent, he is still capable of hitting the catch-and-shoot 3, with him averaging one 3-pointer a game.

Bethane is a playmaking guard who consistently looks to push the tempo. Most of the Marauders' plays run through him, with great half-court playmaking and vision. He has developed great court vision, making the right play for his team. He knows when to attack the rim and when to kick the ball out to an open shooter.

On the glass, Bethane is exceptionally active for a smaller guard. He is an aggressive rebounder, who recorded 5 rebounds this game, with 2 offensive rebounds and 3 defensive rebounds. The 2 offensive rebounds are key for giving his team second-chance opportunities. Although he is a smaller guard, he has the right physical tools and winning mentality to impact the game on both ends of the floor.

Bethane finished the game with a team-high 17 points, which shows his scoring ability. Bethane’s foundation is set with his defensive tenacity, his ability to finish at the rim, and his relentless motor. With continued development as a floor general and an outside shooter, he is a player whose grit and energy will translate at this level of play.
