Dime Sessions Recap: One Prep 74, Mountaineers White 57
One Prep 74, Mountaineers White 57
One Prep looked ready to run away with this one early. Mountaineers White had other ideas.
One Prep came out applying pressure, forcing turnovers and getting out in transition to build a 24-11 lead after the opening quarter. Liam Rohatynchuk (6'3) provided perimeter shooting and activity on the offensive glass, while Yafiet Tekali (6'1) helped set the defensive tone with his speed and active hands.
Mountaineers White responded with a dominant second quarter. Led by Jordie Brown (6'0), who handled pressure, changed speeds and attacked the basket, Mountaineers outscored One Prep 23-5 to take a 34-29 halftime lead. What looked like an early blowout had suddenly become a five-point Mountaineers advantage.
Then One Prep found another gear. The team regained its defensive intensity, outscoring Mountaineers 25-14 in the third quarter. Lual Lual (6'6) brought athleticism and energy, including an impressive two-handed transition dunk, while Tekali continued creating opportunities with his defensive pressure. One Prep carried a 54-48 lead into the fourth.
Mountaineers White couldn't sustain its second-quarter momentum. One Prep closed with a 20-9 final period, with Cole Miller (6'5) contributing to the late offensive push. Rohatynchuk's shooting and work on the glass, combined with One Prep's defensive activity, helped turn a five-point halftime deficit into a convincing 74-57 victory.
